Sarawak Chinese not likely to vote for BN with or without representation in Sarawak cabinet

Sarawak PKR chief Baru Bian is confident the Chinese in the Land of the Hornbills will not vote for the BN in the coming General Election, even though they may lose representation in the government.

“During the state elections, the SUPP and George Chan issued all sorts of threats but the Chinese still voted for Pakatan. They will continue to snub BN until there is real change, or in fact, until there is a total change in government,” Baru told a press conference in the PKR headquarters in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday.

“All these years, only the rich towkays benefitted from Taib Mahmud’s government, not the ordinary Chinese. They had to work hard and rise through their own efforts. So it means nothing to them, whether there are government posts or Cabinet posts or representation.”

Sarawak PKR chief Baru Bian expresses what every ordinary and hard-working Chinese already knows for a fact.  Drive around Kuching and Miri and be awe-struck by the luxurious mansions owned by the Chinese towkays, and you can bet your bottom dollar that they are well-connected to BN politicians.

So whether they (the Chinese) vote for SUPP or not, or whether there is any Chinese representation in the state government or not, their lives are not going to be affected one little bit.

At city administrative level, the leaders are appointed by the State BN, and whatever plans for the city’s development will continue as usual.  So again, the ordinary Chinese will continue to live their lives as they have lived before the state general elections – with or without Chinese representation in the state government.
