Dial-up SUCKS!

The dial-up internet connection at my parents’ place SUCKS! Big time! It is a continuous frustration waiting for a page to load!
I can’t even do a decent job of blogging! I have so far only managed one entry on this blog ever since I arrived in Malaysia. The first one I wrote disappeared into cyberspace oblivion when I tried to post it while Celcom Broadband connection was dropped. Had I known the connection was lost I would have copy pasted my entry on Notepad before attempting to publish it!
Celcom Broadband is even worse than dial-up. It disconnects every now and then. Big time frustration!
I feel like those folks who are suffering the pain of the 40.6% increase in fuel prices! I am not trying to minimize their pain by comparing my internet connection woes to their price hikes anger and frustrations. What I am trying to say is that weaning oneself from what we have been accustomed to takes a lot of time, patience and a major adjustment in one’s attitude and outlook. I have become accustomed to my reliable DSL internet connection back home in California.
Dial-up connection is no better at 3.00 a.m. After tossing and turning and finding myself quite sleepless (probably lingering jet lag), I decided to try logging on the internet hoping for a better connection. Nooooo! It is no better. I think part of the problem is a noisy phone line. That affects the connection speed even further.
I wanted to listen to some radio talk shows from back home and catch up with the current political discussions but have so far not succeeded in listening to any. Downloading podcasts will be a waste of time at the current level of internet connection!
Big time major frustrations! I have completely forgotten the days when all I had was dial-up! I don’t remember complaining as much about the lack of speed in the internet connection back then!
Yes, it is indeed hard to live without what we have become accustomed to!

Crippled seems the right word to describe the misery of having a lousy internet connection!
Yeah, how to dismantle the TM monopoly?! Would love for them to have a little more competition in the broadband market!
