The non-proposal to charge non-Muslims for khalwat

Now that the Director-General of IKIM has denied that there ever was a proposal to charge non-Muslims for khalwat and a whole bunch of people at Malaysiakini, and bloggers including myself have had our say on the subject, can we expect the Syariah Judiciary Department and IKIM to not ever bring up the subject in the future?
One can only hope, eh. But knowing holier-than-thou do-gooders and religious bureaucrats, you can bet this subject or something similar to it, will be brought up again in the future.
My question regarding this whole business is how did Syariah Court of Appeal Judge Datuk Mohd Asri Abdullah get it all wrong? If there was no such proposal why did he disclose that there was such a proposal? Has anyone heard anything from the judge since his disclosure of the “proposal”?
The Director-General of IKIM has only denied two proposals from the news story. The proposal to charge non-Muslims for khalwat and the proposal “for the establishment of a rehabilitation center for those convicted of offences related to morals and faith such as prostitution and effeminate men”.
There are still the proposals for increased penalties for khalwat, prostitution, consuming alcohol and involvement in gambling activities, plus the call for the enforcement of whipping. So there. You Muslims better behave yourselves or you’ll have to pay bigger fines and maybe even face whipping if caught. The moral police has not been disbanded.
