Meanwhile, Najib also said BN’s rivals shiver at the very mention of the ruling coalition’s election machinery.

He described the election machinery as the sharpest weapon in the effort to quell the opposition.

According to him, a strong and united BN machinery will bring victory to Othman Desa who is contesting for the Sik parliamentary seat and Habsullah L. Isa and Mohd Tajuddin Isa for the Jeneri and Belantek state seats.

“In fact, out political enemy shivers when hearing the BN machinery’s name. To ensure the victory of BN candidates, both for the parliamentary and state seats, we have to make sure our machinery is solid and works hard,” he said.

This Malaysiakini story illustrates so clearly the arrogant mindset of the ruling BN coalition.

Of course the coalition’s election machinery is formidable. They have complete control of the air time on TV and radio, as well as the mainstream print media.

If the opposition parties had at their disposal the same amount of air time on TV and radio, the same amount of space in the mainstream print media as the ruling coalition’s, I do not think that Najib will be as confident as he is now about their election machinery.

Even though Najib and every other menteri in the government are merely the caretakers of the government since the dissolution of Parliament, they continue to act as if the government machinery and funds (in actual fact the taxpayers’ assets) are theirs to use for their campaigning and for restoring them back into power.

Is it any wonder that Najib is not bashful about telling PAS that all they could reach is just the top of the coconut trees?
